Bandar Seri Begawan (Beunei), July 1: Brunei's overall Consumer Price Index (CPI) in April 2021 increased by 1.1 percent year-on-year, according to the latest figures released on Wednesday.
According to the country's Department of Economic Planning and Statistics at the Ministry of Finance and Economy, the CPI rise was contributed mainly by increases in the prices and costs of transport (7.2 percent); food and non-alcoholic beverages (1.5 percent); and communication (1.8 percent).
Meanwhile, on a monthly basis, the April 2021 CPI recorded a decrease of 0.5 percent compared to March 2021.
CPI is a measure of price changes of goods and services paid by the consumer in a specified period. Brunei's list of goods and services in the CPI is based on the average expenditure per household.
