Accra (Ghana), June 9: The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) is undergoing institutional reforms to strengthen its capacity to deliver on its mandates, an official said Monday.
Mohammed Nurudeen Ismaila, the chairman of the ECOWAS Administration and Finance Committee, said the reforms "hold significant promise for ushering ECOWAS into a new era of productivity, cost-effectiveness and excellent service delivery."
Ismaila made the remarks at the opening of the five-day 29th ordinary session of the ECOWAS Administration and Finance Committee taking place in the Ghanaian capital of Accra.
"Our regional body should be rightly seen as one which is working for their well-being and prosperity," Ismaila said.
"The ongoing reforms within the ECOWAS Commission, its institutions and agencies, will position our organization to deliver excellent and faultless service to its peoples," he added.
