Washington [US], August 9: The latest Ipsos poll shows that the gap between the two US presidential candidates has widened, with Ms. Harris receiving 42% support, compared to 37% for Mr. Trump. Previously, a Reuters/Ipsos poll on July 22-23 showed Ms. Harris leading
The Ipsos poll, conducted from August 2 to 7 among more than 2,000 adults in the United States, has a margin of error of about 3 percentage points. 4% of respondents support independent candidate Robert Kennedy Jr., down from 10% in July.
A Marist poll released on August 6 also found Harris ahead of Trump by 3 percentage points
Meanwhile, 20% of Americans surveyed by Marist said being a strong leader is the most important quality, with 78% of those people supporting Mr. Trump, compared to 19% for Ms. Harris.
A CNBC survey released on August 8 showed Trump with 48% support, compared to Harris's 46%, as voters leaned toward the former US president on important economic issues. The Hill on August 8 compiled 109 polls, and the average results showed that this was still a close race, with Trump receiving 47.4% support compared to his opponent Harris's 47.2%.
The Hill reported that at a press conference on August 8 at the Mar-a-Lago resort (Florida, USA), Mr. Trump appeared upset and refuted the opinions that the wave of support for Ms. Harris was increasing. He emphasized that Ms. Harris' "honeymoon" would soon end, attacking her Democratic opponent as weaker than President Joe Biden.
