Gasoline brand AI-95, diesel fuel prices surge in Mongolia
Jul 19, 2022
Ulan Bator [Mongolia], July 19: Retail prices of the gasoline brand AI-95 and diesel fuel have risen to a record high in Mongolia, local media reported on Monday, citing the country's Mineral Resources and Petroleum Authority.
The average price of AI-95 per liter rose to 4,210 Mongolian tugriks (about 1.3 U.S. dollars) from 2,770 tugriks (about 0.87 dollars) in February.
Meanwhile, a liter of diesel fuel is priced at 1.28 dollars currently, compared to 0.9 dollars in February.
The surge in retail prices of AI-95 and diesel fuel is mainly related to price hikes caused by continued border restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the Ukraine crisis.
Since the beginning of this year, Mongolia has imported 946,000 tons of oil products, including 472,900 tons of diesel fuel, according to the country's Ministry of Mining and Heavy Industry.
