May 29, 2021
Accra (Ghana) May 29: Ghanaian President Nana AddoDankwaAkufo-Addo on Friday announced a 30-day countdown to Ghana's 2021 national census, the first fully digital one in the West African country.
He said that the 2021 Population and Housing Census (PHC) would be unique with the use of electronic tablets and the Internet to capture and transfer data to guarantee the delivery of high-quality and faster results to support the decision-making process.
"My government remains committed to evidence-based planning and decision making across all spheres of our development. We shall use this census data as we have the previous ones to gauge the extent to which we have made progress on our national development agenda," said Akufo-Addo.
Samuel KobinaAnnim, the head of the Ghana Statistical Service, the institution responsible for collecting and collating national data, said all was set for a successful census as all personnel had been trained and all equipment would be delivered to the 272 statistical districts.
Ghana carried out its last census in 2010 and the final result pegged Ghana's population at 24.6 million.
