
Hun Sen releases audio recording containing information about plot to assassinate him

Phnom Penh [Cambodia], February 14: The two recordings were released on February 13, in which the two men were discussing using UAVs , carrying fuel instead of pesticides, to attack Mr. Hun Sen 's residence in Takhmao city.Mr. Hun Sen said on February 11 that terrorists had planned a UAV attack on his residence in Takhmao city in recent weeks in an attempt to kill him.
"We know who their leaders are and where they are. But we have not announced them yet because we need to eliminate the violent extremists first," he said.
Mr Hun Sen said he was "waiting to see which political parties and politicians will condemn, remain silent or support such actions". "I want to declare that I will eliminate anyone who wants to kill me and my family," Mr Hun Sen stressed.
Mr Hun Sen claimed he had advance knowledge of a drone attack plot on his palace through a secret voice message and urged foreigners to be cautious about supporting any terrorist activities.
Although Mr. Hun Sen did not name those behind the plot, his revelation came amid overseas opposition groups declaring a government-in-exile and inciting efforts to overthrow the government, according to the Khmer Times .
General Vong Pisen, Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces , issued a statement strongly condemning the drone attack plot on Mr. Hun Sen's residence.
In addition, Yang Peou, Secretary General of the Royal Academy of Cambodia, said that the UAV attack plots reflect the continuous efforts of extremist groups to destabilize the government, even trying to target Mr. Hun Sen's family.
Yang Peou called for an investigation to expose those behind the plot, warning that failure to address the threat could lead to greater insecurity and worsen political problems in Cambodia, according to Khmer Times .
