Indonesia reports 291 new COVID-19 cases, 7 more deaths

Jakarta (Indonesia), December 18: Indonesia recorded 291 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, bringing the total tally to 4,260,148, the country's COVID-19 Task Force said on Friday.
According to it, an additional 205 patients have recovered from COVID-19, bringing the total number of recoveries to 4,111,250 in the Southeast Asian country.
Meanwhile, the overall coronavirus death toll has risen to 143,986, including seven newly reported deaths.
The archipelagic country has so far administered 257.54 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines, including 1.268 million third doses.
Indonesia has managed to contain the second wave of COVID-19 transmissions triggered by the Delta variant, with the peak recorded at 51,952 cases on July 15, and has detected its first case of the Omicron variant.
