Tehran [Iran], September 23: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has told state broadcaster IRIB that he plans to use the upcoming UN General Assembly to resume and deepen constructive dialogue with the West.
"The ultimate goal is to ensure peace and stability together with the international community, and I hope to achieve good and constructive results in this regard," Pezeshkian said before flying to New York, where the 79th session of the General Assembly begins on Monday.
Pezeshkian, who is seen as a moderate, aims to address issues that could lead to "political and economic rapprochement" in talks with Western counterparts.
According to the Iranian Students' News Agency (ISNA), Pezeshkian has three main aims in New York: resumption of talks on Iran's nuclear programme, lifting sanctions related to the nuclear conflict and assurances to the West that Iran is not delivering missiles to Russia and is not involved in the Ukraine conflict.
