Israeli military strikes Syria after being targeted by UAV

Jerusalem [Israel], July 14: In a statement, the Syrian military said the attacks were launched from the Israeli-controlled Golan Heights , according to Reuters.
The Syrian army also said the new attacks targeted "several of our military sites in the southern region and one of the residential buildings in the Kafar Souseh area of Damascus city".
"Our air defense systems confronted enemy missiles despite their density and shot down a significant number," the Syrian army said.
Meanwhile, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said their attacks were in response to two unmanned aerial vehicles ( UAVs ) flying from Syria north of the Israeli city of Eilat. The IDF claimed to have shot down the two UAVs.
"During the night, the IDF attacked a military command center and Syrian infrastructure. Additionally, terrorist targets used by the Syrian Army's Air Defense Unit were also attacked," the IDF said in a statement.
Previously, the IDF rarely spoke out about the alleged attack on Syria.
Since Hamas attacked southern Israel on October 7, 2023, the IDF has stepped up attacks on Iranian -backed militia targets in Syria, while also attacking Syrian army air defense systems, according to Reuters.
