Gaza (Gaza Strip), October 19: Qatar is exerting great efforts with all parties including Israel and the Palestinians to ensure that a new round of tension in the Gaza Strip will not take place, a Qatari diplomat said on Monday.
Qatari Ambassador to Palestine Mohammed al-Emadi made the remarks during a meeting in Gaza city with Yahya Sinwar, the leader of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), in the Gaza Strip.
"Qatar is keen to continue providing support to the Palestinians at all levels and in cooperation with all other parties," al-Emadi said in a press statement at the end of his meeting with Sinwar.
The diplomat also discussed with the Hamas leaders the current political situation and expressed his hope that stability and calm will be restored in the Palestinian territories.
Meanwhile, Sinwar said in a press statement that the Palestinian factions in the Gaza Strip are sticking to the importance of implementing the understandings that Qatar brokered between Hamas and Israel.
Qatar on Thursday resumed financial aid to thousands of needy families in the besieged Gaza Strip, home of more than 2 million Palestinians.
A total of 100,000 needy families in the Gaza Strip would receive 100 U.S. dollars for each.
In September, al-Emadi said that Qatar was working on finding alternatives to disbursing the funds in Gaza after it had been suspended since the last round of tension between Israel and Hamas, which ended on May 21 after 11 days.
