Singapore reports 10,594 new COVID-19 cases, 996,914 in total

Singapore (Singapore), March 19: Singapore reported 10,594 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, bringing the total tally to 996,914, according to the country's health ministry.
Of the new cases, 1,970 were detected through PCR (polymerase chain reaction) tests and 8,624 through ART (antigen rapid test) tests, according to statistics released by the Ministry of Health.
Among the PCR cases, 1,917 were local transmissions and 53 were imported cases. Among the ART cases with mild symptoms and assessed to be of low risk, there were 8,518 local transmissions and 106 imported cases.
A total of 1,175 cases are currently warded in hospitals, with 30 cases in intensive care units.
Nine more patients have died from complications due to COVID-19 infection, bringing the death toll to 1,191, the ministry said.
