Turkish gendarmerie forces launch operation against bootleg alcohol producers

Istanbul (Turkey), January 30: Turkish security forces launched an operation against bootleg alcohol producers in Istanbul, the Gendarmerie General Command announced on Saturday.
The gendarmerie units raided a suspicious trailer truck on a highway and confiscated 10,000 liters of smuggled ethyl alcohol, the command said in a statement.
Video footage released by the command showed the forces neutralizing the driver and seizing ethyl alcohols inside boxes in the truck bed.
As part of the operation, the forces also stopped a van on the route and seized 3,000 liters of fake liquor, the statement added.
During the raids, two people were reportedly detained for producing fake drinks.
