Vietnam reports 11,160 new COVID-19 cases

Hanoi [Vietnam], April 23: Vietnam recorded 11,160 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, down by 869 from Thursday, according to the country's Ministry of Health.
The new infections, which were recorded in 59 provinces and cities, were all domestically transmitted.
The Vietnamese capital Hanoi remained the epidemic hotspot with 980 new cases on Friday, followed by the northern provinces of PhuTho with 761 and Bac Giang with 539.
The infections brought the total tally to 10,544,324 with 42,998 deaths. Nationwide, 9,079,265 COVID-19 patients, or 86 percent of the infections, have so far recovered.
Nearly 211.3 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in the country, including over 193.7 million shots on people aged 18 and above, said the ministry.
