Aviation Ministry caps airfares for domestic operations

May 21, 2020

New Delhi, May 21 (ANI): As airlines gear up to resume partial domestic flight services from May 25, Aviation Ministry announced price capping. Airlines have to sell a minimum of 40% seats below Rupees 6700 to ensure the fares don't go out of control. The Secretary of Civil Aviation, Pradeep Singh Kharola said, “40% of seats have to be sold at a fare less than the midpoint of the band. For example, midpoint of Rs 3500 and Rs 10000 is Rs 6700. So 40% of the seats have to be sold at a price less than Rs 6700. This is how we're ensuring that fares don't go out of control.”
