COVID-19: Temples closed on occasion of ‘Hanuman Jayanti’ amid lockdown

Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh)/ New Delhi/ Dibrugarh (Assam)/ Ayodhya (UP), Apr 08 (ANI): Temples are closed on the occasion of ‘Hanuman Jayanti’ across India on April 08. In Delhi, various temples of Lord Hanuman are closed amid coronavirus lockdown. Nationwide lockdown has been imposed in backdrop of coronavirus outbreak. ‘Hanuman Jayanti’ is celebrated on full moon day during Chaitra month to commemorate the birth of Lord Hanuman. In Uttar Pradesh’s Varanasi, devotees were seen worshipping from outside the temple premises. The temple authorities have also put a notice board stating that the temples will be closed to deal with the spread of coronavirus. Similarly, in Assam’s Dibrugarh and UP’s Ayodhya, temples wore deserted look on auspicious occasion of ‘Hanuman Jayanti’ due to COVID-19 threat. According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the total number of COVID-19 active cases rose to 4312 in India and 124 deaths.
