‘Dwindling prices, rising imports,’ Kashmir’s walnut growers are ‘unhappy’
Sep 24, 2024
Anantnag (J&K), Sept 24 (ANI): Kashmiri walnut farmers are feeling discouraged due to declining domestic prices and a rise in imports, prompting them to call for government intervention. Jammu and Kashmir's walnuts, primarily of the Vonth, Kaghazi, and Barzul varieties, are highly nutritious and hold a significant position in the global walnut industry. Alongside the farmers, workers involved in harvesting and processing walnuts are also appealing for government support to safeguard walnut cultivation in the region.
