Medical staff, police escorting COVID positive patients attacked by villagers in Kalaburagi

Kalaburagi (Karnataka), June 16 (ANI): Iada Martin Marbaniang, Superintendent of Police Kalaburagi, Karnataka on June 15 informed that 15 people were reported COVID positive from Tanda village. Medical team along with police personnel went to get them for treatment, however an argument erupted with villagers which soon turned violent. The matter has been resolved and all of them have been brought to the hospital. “A medical team along with some police personnel had gone to the Tanda village to bring 15 people who had tested positive for COVID-19 to a hospital for treatment,” said Iada Martin Marbaniang, SP. “While going there, medical team had an argument with the villagers that became violent as some people started pelting stones at the ambulance and at a vehicle of health department. We rushed more security forces to the village. I visited the spot and spoke to few leaders. Subsequently, we were able to convince them and all of them were brought to the hospital. A case has been registered against violent offenders,” he added.
