Nepal builds special hospital for COVID-19 patients within 72 hours

Bharatpur (Nepal), Mar 21 (ANI): A special hospital with 70 beds, including 10 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and High Dependent Unit (HDU) with 10 beds designated to treat COVID-19 patients was built in Nepal’s Chitwan District within 72 hours of its announcement. The hospital came into operation from Friday itself, abiding by the deadline of three days set by the Bharatpur Metropolis on 18th March. Exhibition center, constructed by Chitwan Industry Union, was converted into a temporary medical facility to cope with increased risk after the outbreak of new strain of coronavirus or the COVID-19 which has now taken the form of a pandemic. The Chitwan Medical College (CMC) has been designated to coordinate with College of Medical Sciences and the Private Hospital Coordination Committee and operate the ICU and HDU of the newly set hospital. Bharatpur- headquarter of Chitwan District is also regarded as economic and medical hub and transit to reach various districts of the Himalayan Nation hosts over a million travelers on daily basis. It lies at distance of about 150 kilometers from Nepal capital Kathmandu connected via road and airways.
