New STPs to boost sewage treatment capacity of Prayagraj city

Jan 27, 2020

Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh), Jan 27 (ANI): Prayagraj bustles with tourists round the year. It is popular among pilgrims for Triveni Sangam, the confluence of the rivers Ganga, Yamuna and the mythic Saraswati. While the confluence and the river banks are remarkable sights during fairs, the ordinary days too witness hundreds of devotees traveling midstream to pay their obeisance. This overwhelming influx of devotees is a huge responsibility and a challenge for the people looking after the health of the river, especially dealing with sewage and solid waste. The National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) in collaboration with the state government has been endeavouring to treat sewage generated every day, to prevent the river from getting polluted. As of today, around 80 per cent of Prayagraj’s sewage is being treated.
