Srinagar (J&K), January 24 (ANI): Authorities took unique initiative to preserve thousands of 'Chinar' trees in Kashmir valley. Chinar trees are getting geo-tagged to create a comprehensive database for their management. These trees have been under threat of extinction for a long time due to rapid urbanization and diseases. These deciduous trees have always been a symbol of Kashmir, attracting tourists from all over the world. QR code are being attached to trees recording characteristics like location, health, age, and growing patterns. “We have identified 28, 560 trees so far”, said Dr Syed Tariq Scientist from Forest Research Institute. This project raised the hope in people to save and preserve this flora unique to Kashmir valley.
