Supreme Court constitutes special SIT to investigate Tirupati Laddoo case, CBI director to supervise

New Delhi, October 4 (ANI): The Supreme Court constituted an independent Special Investigation Team in the Tirupati Prasadam case on October 4. The apex court formed a new SIT constituting 2 people from CBI, 2 from state police and 1 from Food Safety and Standards Authority of India . While disposing of the petitions, the SC bench said “We don't want this to turn into political drama”. Supreme Court also mentioned that it is open to being approached during the investigation, however it will not permit the Court to be used as a political battleground. The row over the Tirupati Prasadam began after Andhra CM Chandrababu Naidu alleged YSRCP govt of using substandard ingredients in Tirupati Laddoos. A lab report that confirmed use of “Animal Fat” in Tirupati Prasadam led to outrageous exchange of words between top South political leaders.
