“Very good…” Trump holds phone call with Xi Jinping, sparks new hope for US-China cooperation

Proving his mettle, Donald Trump triumphed the US elections defeating Kamala Harris by decent margin in 2024. From imposing tariffs to threatening the BRICS nations, President Elect Trump had already made headlines before joining the office. In one of such event, Donald Trump on January 17, held a phone call with Chinese President Xi Jinping, that sparked hope for US-China Cooperation. Notably, Trump and Xi Jinping discussed a range of issues including trade, fentanyl and TikTok. Stressing the expectation that the two global leaders will "solve many problems together," the President-elect Trump said. Notably, Trump has also threatened to impose new tariffs on major trade partners. He has vowed as much as 60 per cent tariff on China. Following this, TikTok is facing a potential ban in the US, the popular short-video app is preparing to shut down its operations in the country soon. The world has its eyes on Trump as he is all set to take oath as the President of the United Sates on Jan 20 and join the oval office as the supreme leader
